Rock Is About To Be Resurrected Thanks To Kickstand Jenny

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Here at Virtuosity Magazine, we are thrilled to get a sneak peek of the upcoming 11-track new album release by Kickstand Jenny, a band we have been following for years.

Based in Santa Rosa Beach Florida, Kickstand Jenny is Preston Morlock (Founder/Lead Guitar), Scott Foster Harris (Vocals), Chris Mcomas (Bass), and A.J. Sipos (drums).

The new album, Between The Lies, was recorded in Nashville and is set for release on June 9, 2023. Pre-order the album on your favorite listening platform via this link: https://orcd.co/kickstandjenny

Between The Lies is one of the most cohesive and electrifying records I’ve heard in a long time. In the old days of rock and roll, it was customary to sit down and listen to an album from start to finish and that’s the way I listened to this record. The band was kind enough to send me all eleven tracks, most of which haven’t been released yet – what a delicious treat!

The band says the album is about the death and rebirth of a soul and was inspired by the “death of live music” caused by the pandemic and the “desire to march on and rise up like a phoenix.”

The album opens with a psychedelic and pulsating rock anthem that you don’t want to end, and the album just gets better from there. From “Love It Or Leave It” (already released) to an angry, fiery, and oh-so-relatable rock ballad, “Standing In The Doorway” to “Solo,” a stellar track featuring the powerful vocals of Mark Slaughter.

It was extremely difficult to choose favorites on this album but if I had to choose, the fourth track, “Never Gonna Let You Go” would be at the top of the list. The lyrics are poignant and moving and the soul-stirring guitar solo is just icing on an already delicious cake!

The weighty “Tonight,” is the fifth track on the album and has already been released, along with a captivating video.

Another favorite on this album is the sixth track, “One More Day,” an empowering song about remaining strong when you’re facing the world alone.

“Take Me Back To The Time,” is a reflective, sing-along jam with amazing harmonies, that reminds us of those wild times of our youth.

It was such a joy to see “Death Trap” on this album. It’s a Kickstand Jenny fan-favorite that has been re-recorded and updated and fits perfectly in this album.

Next, the band took the Stones’ iconic “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and totally Jenny’d it. The guys show off some serious vocals and dance moves in this song and video that would make Jagger proud!

Wrapping up this bad-ass album is “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” featuring Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts) on drums, a tune for anyone who’s ever had a broken heart. And “Solo (Reprise)” is the cherry on top.

Take it from me, my fellow music fans, you are going to want to PRESAVE THIS ALBUM and when it’s released, set aside an hour of your time and listen to it in its entirety – you will not be disappointed.
