All Aboard… It’s time to get aboard the Hooka Train, a great blues album by Ottawa, Ontario based band Al Wood And The Woodsmen. This album which is their third album, released on May 1, 2017, features Al Wood who wrote all the material, sings and plays harmonica with support from guitarist Lindsay Pugh, bassist Frank Deresti and drummer Simon Meilleur.
This nine-track album features such great tracks as “Hole Hill Mountain Blues,” the title track “Hooka Train,” “Bluebird,” “Certain Ways,” and so much more. I enjoyed this album from start to finish with amazing vocals, bluesy guitar licks, and great harmonica playing. This band gave a solid performance on this album as well as great songwriting and an excellent recording. This is definitely an album you will want to add to your blues library. I am looking forward to listening to this band’s other albums in the next few weeks.
