The fact that Whiskey Kate is writing songs and performing again, is truly a miracle. Kate started her professional music career several years ago, after thinking she had fought and won her battle with Lyme Disease. But, in 2016, Kate was involved in a serious car accident and she sustained a traumatic brain injury. What she and her doctors didn’t realize at the time, is that her inability to recover from the brain injury was because she still had Lyme Disease. Kate had to learn how to do everything again – talk & sing, walk, drive, and other basic life functions.

Once she had recovered from the car accident, Kate, returned to the music scene and, in her words, was “kicking ass.” She was opening for major, national acts and won many awards. And then Covid hit and everything came to a screeching halt, which was devastating for Kate. Little did Kate know, that as she was taking a break from music during the pandemic, she was still battling Chronic Lyme Disease.

Fast forward to last year, the pandemic restrictions had eased, Kate released her single “Hotter” and was planning on getting her music career back on track, but before she could, the Chronic Lyme Disease reared its ugly head again. Kate had Covid 13 times, and her body was shutting down. By December of 2023, Kate was bedridden and in January of this year, Kate was close to losing her life. Thankfully, a dear friend of Kate’s introduced her to Methylene Blue Bars made by Mitozen. Methylene is a medication that was first used to treat Malaria but is now used to treat Lyme Disease and other cognitive issues. Thanks to the Methylene Blue Bars, Kate was able to get her chronic Lyme Disease under control. When asked how she’s doing now, in the interview Kate replied, “The fact that I’m even on tonight talking to you is a miracle. I couldn’t talk, I was losing my speech. I lost the use of my hands. I’m just lucky to be alive.”

Whiskey Kate aka Katy Grace has been writing songs since she was six years old. Kate’s musical aspirations were inspired by her grandmother, who gave up a musical career in Nashville to raise a family. Kate’s grandmother was very religious and said she was told by the Lord that if she gave up her music career, that someone in the generations following her, would follow in her footsteps and uphold her musical legacy and Whiskey Kate is the one in her family who is doing that.

At a young age, Kate picked up a donated guitar that her mother had given her and began to teach herself how to play by using old country songs. At one point, she took a couple informal lessons to learn the basics and then started writing her own music.

During the live interview, a few listeners in the chatroom asked if Whiskey Kate had any tips and/or resources for others who are battling Lyme Disease.

Kate replied, “Within a couple days of taking the Lumetol Blue Bars by Mitozen, I started walking again.” Mitozen was impressed with Kate’s story and Kate has now partnered with the company.

Here is an excerpt from a Facebook post Whiskey Kate did earlier this year, explaining her experience with Mitozen:

In the depths of my battle with Chronic Lyme Disease, I faced unimaginable challenges – from losing my memory to struggling with basic motor functions. It was a dark time, but through the support of loved ones and the power of perseverance, I found Mitozen.
