If you’ve ever watched American Idol or The Voice, you know the judges always discourage contestants from covering a legend like Whitney Houston. But Maggie Roger is is doing her music thing, here in real life, and probably wouldn’t have listened to the judges anyway. And as well she shouldn’t. Just take a listen to this astoundingly pure and poignant rendition of Houston’s, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.
Born and raised in Maryland and an NYU graduate, Rogers just released her first album, Heard It In A Past Life, which debuted at #2 on this week’s Billboard 200. Not a bad start for this young songstress. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this beautiful talent.
