I’ll never forget the day I discovered F.C. Westcott. At the time, I was volunteering at an internet radio station, and was recruiting independent artists to play.
I had been living in New York for the last 30 years, but had come to Colorado to care for my mother, who was gravely ill. I lost a love to cancer while living in New York, and the loss of him, had been weighing heavy on my mind that day, in addition to the helplessness I felt, watching my mother’s suffering. I collapsed into bed that night, and dissolved into tears. After a couple hours of tossing and turning, I decided to forget trying to sleep, and I focused on work.
I decided to see if I could find any local artists, where I was living in Grand Junction, that were worthy of spinning on our station. I went on Reverbnation, searched “Grand Junction, CO” and F.C. Westcott was the first artist to pop up.
When I saw the song title “I’ll Never Come Back” (from his album Unfeigned),I knew I had to listen. I could hear the pain in F.C.’s rich, emotive voice, and I could feel the pain in the lyrics he sang – “I’ll never come back, unless it’s you. I’ll never come back.”
My knees buckled, and I dropped to the floor in tears. I’ve never had a song impact me as much as that song did, that night.
Since then, I have been a devoted follower and supporter of F.C., and have had the opportunity to see him perform live.
I had a chance to visit with F.C. before his show a couple weeks ago, and he confirmed that he is working on new music that will be released in 2020.
Give F.C. a listen, and I’m sure you’ll become an instant fan, just like I did! For updates on the new music, and tour information, check out his website FCWestcott.com, and follow him on social media via the links below.
