A Pair Of Legendary Colorado Musicians Team Up To Support Denver’s City Park Jazz

Colorado Music Hall Of Fame inductees, Chris Daniels and Freddi Gowdy delivered a fantastic virtual performance thanks to Denver’s Oriental Theater, and all to benefit City Park Jazz, an organization that produces ten, free and family-friendly concerts at local Denver parks each summer.

Colorado music legend, Chris Daniels, has been leading his band, The Kings, for the past 36 years. Daniels teamed up with local singer, Freddi Gowdy, of the renowned Freddi-Henchi Band, about ten years ago. Chris, Freddi, and The Kings have been tearing up the local Denver music scene ever since.

Freddi “Love” Gowdy founded the original funk band, Freddi Love & The Soulsetters in Phoenix in 1965, and the band relocated to Denver in 1970. For the next 15 years, the Freddi-Henchi Band (dubbed by their Colorado fans) was a headlining act at venues all through the western U.S., and as far east as Chicago.

Gowdy and Daniels, both cancer survivors, have been co-fronting The Kings for years, and together have released two award-winning albums, most recently Blues With Horns.

In addition to singing original tracks off their most recent album, including “Get Up Off The Funk,” and “Fried Food and Hard Liquor,” Chris also shared a beautiful new song he wrote for his love, Vera, called “Bohemian Girl.”
